Our Lady of Fatima University was founded in the year 1967 by Mr. Jose Olivares and his son-in-law, Dr. Vicente M. Santos. OLFU is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban surroundings of Valenzuela City. The university was established as a result of the development of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital which became the major supplier of medical and health care services for the city. Initially the university was named as Fatima Medical Science Foundation, Incorporated (FMSFI). Then the name was changed to Our Lady of Fatima College and finally the institute was named as Our Lady of Fatima University.
In the year 1973, Mr Olivares established the Our Lady of Fatima College of Nursing with the aim of creating medical center for training competent health care providers. Some curricular programs were added in the 1970s including courses in Midwifery, Chemistry, and Veterinary Medicine. The university focuses mainly on allied medical sciences. Our Lady of Fatima University has three main campuses, one based in Valenzuela City, the other in Quezon City, and the third in Antipolo, Rizal.
Our Lady of Fatima Hospital follows the American curriculum. Philippines is the 3rd Largest English Speaking Country after US and UK. So the medium of instruction in medical colleges in Philippines is English. The university offers a very safe and friendly environment to the students studying MBBS and other medial courses.
