Kyiv National Medical University (O.O. Bogomolets) is one of the leading medical institutions in Ukraine offering MBBS, MD, BDS and many more programs in medicine. The university was established in the year 1841 with a medical faculty under the supervision of Kyiv Saint Volodymyr University. KNMU is located in the capital city of Ukraine – Kyiv. KNMU has gained the highest level of accreditation by the Ministry of Health and Education i.e. level IV.
Kyiv National Medical University has been training students from all over the world for more than 150 years. The university celebrated its 170th anniversary in the year 2011. KNMU is known to be the primary scientific and preventive care center of the country. For the last many years, the university has been successful in winning gold medal at international exhibition of educational institutions in different nominations in Ukraine.
Kyiv National Medical University is known for is well trained and highly experienced academic staff. There are around 80 departments with almost 1200 lecturers. Among them there are 140 professors, 189 doctors of science, 338 assistant professors and 720 candidates of science, more than 200 academicians and corresponding members of NAS, AMS, APS of Ukraine, laureates of State Prize of Ukraine, honorary workers of science and technology, workers of education and doctors, as well as inventors of Ukraine. The teaching is in KNMU is done in English, Ukrainian and Russian. The academic year at the KNMU starts on September 1.Each academic year is divided into two semesters.
According to the state ranking by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, KNMU is ranked at the top among all the higher medical schools of III and IV accreditation levels in Ukraine. At present, there are more than 1180 students, postgraduate students, doctoral students, residents; doctors-interns are studying at KNMU. This number also includes around 1200 foreign citizen from 63 countries.
Kyiv National Medical University has been declared a winner and awarded with the golden medal in category “Integration of Science and Education – necessary condition for improved quality of specialists’ training at higher education institutions” of ХІІ International Exhibition of Educational Institutions “Contemporary Education in Ukraine – 2009”.
The students pursuing their higher education in medicine from KNMU are provided with all the facilities which are comparable to the European standards. The campus is spread in a large area with 7 hostel buildings, 12 student canteens and cafeteria, one sport complex and a recreation center. The library of Kyiv National Medical University has more than 700,000 units of scientific literature which also includes electronic database supply and 2 computer reading halls with internet access.
